Time for a Mini Break

I have an announcement to make. Spring Break begins tomorrow and I will not be posting anything this next week. While I enjoy writing this blog because its whole focus is finding zen and peace, I still need to take advantage of this break to step away from my school work and everyday tasks. I need to take a break from my responsibilities and just breathe, so that I can face my tasks with a fresh mind afterward.

However, this does not mean we should stop actively pursuing our goals of living a happier, more peaceful life. In fact, if you are on Spring Break as well, this may be the perfect time to focus on yourself and the different ideas I’ve presented through this blog.

Have you been reading consistently? If not, find a book and take this week to really delve into it. Place yourself in a quiet area, in your room or even outside, if the spring weather has reached you. Drink some tea and focus on the fact that you are taking time for yourself, because you deserve it.

Take some time to take that yoga class that you’ve been eyeing, if you haven’t already. If you don’t have time for that, set up your laptop and watch a beginners yoga YouTube video. Again, if the weather permits, take your yoga mat outside and enjoy some fresh air. This is the perfect time of year to get outside and appreciate the spring air. Finding an excuse to absorb some sun and vitamin D is also a great idea, to boost your mood. If you absolutely must be in a gym to work-out, Townie Purdue Peeps: go to the Co-Rec. The hours are a bit different over break, but it is still open.

How is the 40 Bags in 40 Days challenge going? Maybe you could take this week to do some real spring cleaning. While it doesn’t sound fun, I find that cleaning up the house can be extremely relaxing, in a productive way. Do it this Monday or Tuesday so that you can enjoy the satisfaction of a clean house while you’re reading your book and doing yoga the rest of the week.

Most importantly, if you can, even if you’re not on Spring Break, just take time to enjoy this week. Every year is precious. Every month is precious. Every week is precious. Enjoy this one and find some time to allow yourself to relax and recharge. Get some extra Zs and use your spare time to start implementing better and healthier habits into your life.

My plan is to go to bed earlier this week and to wake up earlier. Maybe if I have a reason to consistently get a good night’s sleep, I can keep it up when classes start up again. Stress and sleep go hand in hand, so make an effort to get a good night’s sleep. When you have an opportunity to adjust your sleep cycle for the better, take it.

I’ll be back soon. Enjoy your week of rest, I know I will.

  1. Hi! I’m a newbie to your blog. I’m a student blogger as well, and I completely understand the struggles and the stress to manage blogging and school work. Funny enough for me, I tend to post a lot more blog posts during break and then when tests, essays and stress from school comes around, my blog posts become more sporadic. Regardless, I hope you have a relaxing week free of school or blogging stress! Xo, Steph

    1. Hi Steph! Thank you so much for stopping by and saying “hi” 🙂 I completely know what you mean. I always feel like I will be more productive with my projects over breaks, but as I’ve come to realize, I am generally more productive when I am structured and accountable during the semester. Anyway, thanks again for stopping by and I’m excited to check out your blog! Have a good day.
